Simple Acts Ministry  was founded in 2004 by a group of prison ministry volunteers. Our attention was drawn toward the overwhelming challenges faced by ex-offenders who were leaving prison. We saw so many enter the free world with no support system or physical resources. Many were believers who left their Christian fellowship inside, but had none waiting for them outside.

We decided to form a non-profit ministry with the purpose of helping men and women continue their walk with the Lord after their release from prison. We felt they needed the Body of Christ to be real in their lives through meeting their basic physical, spiritual and emotional needs in the free world.

Various ministries and chaplains estimate that roughly 10% of prisoners released every year have made a commitment to follow Christ. But the disturbing fact is that as many as 80% of these Christian ex-offenders never find a church home or spiritual community.

So, we seek to find them. Our aim is to cultivate a welcoming community that is both supportive and empowering. We offer several programs, groups and gatherings designed to develop long-term relationships. We also help with immediate needs in hopes that lasting friendships will be formed.

We'll soon open a live-in hospitality house to provide an even more intensive experience for recovery ministry and reentry preparation.

We still continue to do in-prison ministry and partner with others such as Prison Fellowship and Kairos. We helped to develop the first faith-based dorm in Montford Prison, and lead classes and workshops inside.

Our unique position allows us not only to lead prisoners to Christ on the inside, but also to follow through with their growth, discipleship and success on the outside. We're seeing our initial vision come to life in so many ways we could never have imagined.

"I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.

"Master, ... when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?"

"Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me."

- Matthew 25:35-40
